Film Columbia
Friday-Sunday: The Film Columbia film festival continues this weekend at venues in both Chatham and Hudson. The festival slate includes a bunch of films that are already getting attention because of screenings at other festivals and/or they're eagerly awaited because of stars or directors involved. Tickets are $12 for day films, $16 for evening films. Friday-Sunday various times

The Book of Mormon
Friday-Sunday: The touring production of The Book of Mormon finishes up is return run at Proctors. It's a popular show, and many of the performances will probably sell out (tickets are "very limited" for the remaining shows). Friday-Sunday various times - $30 and up

Half Moon Market
Saturday-Sunday: The Half Moon Market, an indie marketplace, will be at the Washington Park Lake House in Albany. Blurbage: "The Half Moon Market will feature over 30 regional makers, artists and small companies offering handmade jewelry, ceramics, stationery, soaps, and more, as well as a few local food & drink vendors." Saturday 6-9 pm / Sunday 11 am-6 pm - free admission

Burlesque to the Future
Friday: C. Amanda Boutahorse's Cult Classics burlesque series presents Burlesque to the Future -- a tribute to Back to the Future -- at The Hangar. Friday 9 pm - $15

Rocky Horror
Friday: The new season of the Palace's movie series continues with a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with live shadow cast The Kids of Albany. Friday 7 pm - $7

Halfmoon Market
Saturday/Sunday: Washington Park hosts the Halfmoon Market this weekend. It's an indie market at the Washington Park Lakehouse featuring the work of local artists and crafters. Saturday from 6pm to 9pm, Sunday from 11am to 6pm -- free admission

Spontaneous Broadway
Friday-Sunday: Schenectady Light Opera hosts The Mop and Bucket Improv Company's Spontaneous Broadway. Act I: Improvisors create songs on the spot based on audience suggestions. Then the audience votes for its favorite song. Act II: Improvisors create a musical around the selected song, complete with props, costumes and a reprise of the song from the first act. Friday and Saturday (with free post-show cabaret) at 8 pm, Sunday at 2pm - $20

Violet
Friday-Sunday: The Not So Common Players presents Violet, starring Brittany Leigh Glenn. The award winning off-Broadway musical, based on the short story The Ugliest Pilgrim, tells the story of a young disfigured woman who journeys from her North Carolina farm to Tulsa, Oklahoma in a quest for a televangelist to heal her and make her beautiful. Friday & Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 2 pm - free

A Chorus Line
Friday-Sunday: Home Made Theater continues its production of A Chorus Line at the Spa Little Theater. Friday & Saturday at 8pm - $26 & $29

Liberty Ridge Farm's Fall Festival
Friday-Sunday: Pumpkin patch, cornfield maze, and other fall farm adventures at Liberty Ridge Farm's ongoing fall festival.

Schuyler Farms Corn Maze
Saturday-Sunday: Schuyler Farms is offering its annual corn maze with hayrides, a petting zoo and gemstone mining a corn maze and more. Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 am - $8 per person

Saratoga Scare Fair
Friday & Saturday: The Saratoga Scare Fair is open for the season. It's a spooky teen/adult haunted house at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. Friday and Saturday nights through October 6:30-10 pm - $10

Haunted corn maze
Friday-Saturday: Schuyler Farms has a haunted corn maze. Friday and Saturday 7-10 pm (last ticket sold at 9:15 pm) - $14

It's Haunted Hayride season at Double M Haunted Hayrides.

Field of Horrors
The Field of Horrors in Brunswick continues its season this weekend with four haunted attractions. Friday-Sunday 6-11 pm - $25

Cherry Hill dramatic tours

Friday: The Opalka Gallery is screening the 1982 version of Tron , starring Jeff Bridges as a hacker who travels into the digital world and becomes part of the very game he is designing. Friday 6:30pm - free

Museums/galleries

The Capital Region in 50 Objects
The new Capital Region in 50 Objects exhibit continues at The Albany Institute of History and Art. It's a look at 50 iconic objects and images that help tell the story of the Capital Region.

More museums
+ A new work from painter Barbara Takenaga is on a 100-foot wall at MASS MoCA.
+ The Hyde Collection recently opened an exhibition of American printmaking.
+ The Arkell has relatively new exhibitions of winter landscapes and the work of illustrator William Joyce.
+ And the Clark is opening an exhibition on Sunday looking at how the museum collects art.

Road trip
Spend 12 hours in The Berkshires, The Catskills or visit one of the many state parks in the Capital Region. Or take a hike.

Get rid of the old computer
Saturday: Albany's Department of General Services is holding a recycling collection event in Washington Park at which city residents drop off electronics for recycling and paper for shredding. Acceptable items include: televisions, VCR players, DVD players, scanners, printers, speakers, music players, wires and cords, computers, monitors, game consoles, keyboards and mice, electronic video, stereos, fax machines, and cell phones and chargers. Saturday from 1-4 pm

Farmers' markets are outside for a another few weekends.
+ Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is on River Street in Troy. (It moves inside the Atrium in November.) Saturday 9 am-2 pm
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market will be outdoors in High Rock Park. It will be outdoors until October 31. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Delmar Farmers Market is open for the season at Bethlehem Central Middle School. It's outdoors until November 7. Saturday 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket will be around Schenectady City Hall. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market will be outside the Lincoln Baths Sunday from 10 am-3 pm

Troy Makers Market: 2 outdoor markets left before moving inside!

The Troy Makers Market is a celebration of crafters, makers, artists & taste makers from around the Capital Region. The market is held in conjunction with the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, held on River Street on Saturdays from 9:00am - 2:00pm. The market will move inside to the Uncle Sam Atrium along with Troy Waterfront Farmers Market on 11/7/15.
