About New Yorkers saying they want to through the whole state senate out

"Rob: I think that Senator Breslin is one of the few people in the State Capitol that I actually trust, having worked in state government relations. You don't have to take my word for it, but I just figured I would throw it out there.

Also, what is probably most troubling about all of this: the incumbency rate will surely not dip below 90% next year, I doubt it will go below 95%."

... said Dan in Pine Hills

"Dan, I agree -- Sen. Breslin is a decent man and one of the better legislators. But isn't that part of the problem -- that we all like and keep reelecting our own representatives, while condemning the institution as a whole?"

About the library loaning fishing poles

"If we combine some of the ideas above, yes, the public library could also loan hunting rifles."

About UAlbany's new dining hall

"Where was this when I lived on Indian Quad? Only a few years ago did the staff think vegetarians ate only spaghetti and vegans ate only iceberg salads."

About the Troy Dinosaur Bar-B-Que becoming a done deal

"You can't barbeque a dinosaur, they've been extinct for millions of years - I bet these guys substitute dinosaur meat with pork and beef."

About CDTA consolidating bus stops

"I am 100% for stop consolidation. When I was studying in Denmark, the buses all arrived exactly when they were supposed to, every stop, every day. Upon opting to ride the bus to work everyday here, despite a thorough Troy-to-Albany schedule, the same bus would have a swing time of anywhere from being 5 minutes early to 10 minutes late. I realized that this is because the 22 has stops nearly every block. When you think about the number of variables that puts into the ride, it's no wonder the schedule is so erratic. The Danish bus system may have had made you walk a little farther for your bus, but it actually came when it was supposed to and took you where you needed to go on time. This move will help CDTA gain some trust back in my book."

About a four day work week for the state

"As a former state worker myself, I can truthfully say that most staties only work 4 days anyway - spending day 5 of course doing bingers in their man/woman caves."

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
