Stuff to do this weekend

zombies ahead

Beware of Zombies on Saturday night.

Is it us, or is it starting to feel like November already? Quick, before it snows, get another autumn weekend in.

There are apples to be picked, cider donuts to be eaten, pumpkins to be carved and leaves to be kicked around. What else is there to do ? Well, here's our weekly round-up.

If you've got something else in mind, share please.

And have a great weekend!

Exit Dome
Tonight WEXT becomes The Exit Dome, with performances by Super 400, Railbird, Sean Rowe and Margan and the Red Lions. There are still a few tickets available. A pledge of $60 to WEXT will get you a pair. Since the show is tonight, call them at 880-3400 and ask for WEXT membership. You can also try at the door, but no promises. If you can't go in person, you can catch the show on the radio at 97.7 starting at 7PM.

Zombies!
The Zombie Film Feast is back at "The Linda." Three days, eleven zombie flicks and an ultimate zombie slaying marathon in the old bank vault. Gaming starts today at 4 and the first movie is at 6. Tomorrow night at 5, dress up and take the "Zombie Walk" from Bombers on Lark Street to the Zombie Prom at "The Linda." There's a "Thriller" dance-off and brain eating contest and of course, more movies. Sunday is the "Zombie Slayoff." Individual movie tickets are $6, Zombie prom $8; the "All-Feast Pass" gets you everything for $30. Walking with zombies -- priceless.

How to be Inappropriate

The RPI Engineers are playing at home tonight and Saturday. So are the Albany River Rats.

Troy History Walk
This week's walk highlights the underground railroad in Troy. The 1 hour walk leaves from the Troy Farmers Market at 10:30 Saturday morning.

The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
No, you wouldn't think the story of a guy who slits people's throats, then turns them into meat pies which he fees to unsuspecting customers, could possibly be funny -- but Stephen Sondheim's macabre musical, "Sweeny Todd" will make you laugh, and think. It will also freak you out a little. You can catch the show this weekend at Cohoes Music Hall.
While you're there, say hi to Eva.

Freak yourself out
There are all kinds of haunted houses, hayrides and corn mazes this weekend. If spooky is your thing, here are a few places that are happy to oblige.

Hello Pretty City from RPI is hosting the show. Free admission.

Farmers' Markets
This is the last week most of the local farmers markets will be outdoors. Check out the fall bounty in Troy and Saratoga on Saturday and in Schenectady on Sunday.

Apples
Sure, it's the apples, not the cider donuts, that send us out to visit local farms and orchards. Here are a few places where you can pick your own apples. Umm... some of them also have cider donuts. We're just sayin'.

Head of the Fish
No it's not a band name. It's a Regatta. Crew teams from around the country will race on Saratoga Lake this weekend. Junior events are Saturday and Collegiate events are Sunday. Spectators are welcome.

Buy some books
The East Greenbush Library book sale starts tonight. We hear there are good deals to be had on books and music.

Take a walk
There's still time to get a good autumn walk in. Saturday may be a little soggy but Sunday looks perfect. Don't forget to kick through the leaves. Here are a few places we like to wander.

Brunch
Linger over brunch with good friends. Quintessence is open for brunch again and there's always the Bloody Mary a Cafe Madison.

Went last weekend and it was pretty good.
