A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-01-22

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We talked with John DeRosier -- the editorial cartoonist for the TU also makes beautiful jewelry.

+ We met Kylen Kline, a Clifton Park native who worked with dogs for a Broadway show and is now back in her home town opening a business focused on pups.

+ There's a little bit of Finland on the southern edge of the Adirondacks.

+ The Albany-NYC corridor was scored as having some of the best potential for high-speed rail in the entire country.

+ It's cold outside -- but it's (relatively) warm inside the Great Escapes indoor water park.

+ Speaking of cold: here's the way to properly bundle.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the warehouse district, Sandra Lee, stained glass, thrilling food, a crabby salad, Capital Region Style Mac Cheese, a CSA, Bombers in Schenectady, wings, pancakes, North Adams, a mattress sled, and Vermont.

+ The Post Secret exhibit opened at UAlbany.

+ JK asked about indoor pools he and a friend could visit for a day.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: feet rentals, tickets to the Super Bowl, a lost ice auger, and a goat cart.

+ Ommegang's Chocolate Indulgence stout: "Flavors of succotash and fricassee emerge on the palate with an artisanal pink peppercorn chocolate and earthy hops swagger on the finish."

+ Latham's checkerboard water towers will soon be no more.

+ The Whistling Kettle in Ballston Spa is a very cozy spot.

+ And, as you may have heard, Barack Obama was here:

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

A few things I think about this place

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
