A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-04-28

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Soapbox: Kim cleaned up her neighborhood in Troy -- and thought about what happens when people see neighbors making an effort.

+ Dave shared a bunch of fun photos from Tweed Ride.

+ The GlobalFoundries cafeteria is probably a bit nicer than your typical office snack bar.

+ Noted: pineapples don't have sleeves.

+ Daniel says you should eat the South Carolina pulled pork sandwich at Capital Q.

+ We got a tour of the new Albany ShopRite, and tried to get some sense about why the chain is betting big on the Capital Region.

+ We gave away tickets to the upcoming A Taste of Albany by asking: What's the one local food, dish, taste, or food experience that says "spring" to you?

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the Tweed Ride, things left behind, Howe Caverns, the Black Bridge, personal responsibility, baby red foxes, FDR, MEGABODEGA, restaurant week, a $14 burger, sushi in Altamont, lobster mac, inexpensive beauty supplies, bananas, man etiquette, and a remembrance.

+ Price Chopper is reducing the discount for its gasoline discount program -- people had a lot to say about that.

+ The Dark Sky weather app -- developed in Troy -- is now available.

+ Melissa asked about good lunch spots in Rensselaer and East Greenbush.

+ A few of the things found on Craigslist this week: Thor enjoying Passion Pit, insanely high expectations, being too drunk, and a weathervane.

+ The finalists for this year's Tulip Queen were announced.

+ Bhawin shared a great behind-the-scenes film about Albany High School's production of My Fair Lady.

+ John asked for recommendations of local consultants or agencies to help his org with online media.

+ Another round of bumper gawking.

+ And AOA is hosting a Burger Lab at Central Steak -- all-you-can-eat, create-your-own sliders! And it's a benefit for the ASAP Daisies. Tickets are $15 -- there's a limited number. (And you could win a free ticket by creating a custom slider from the huge list of toppings.)

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared a photo or idea this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
