A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-09-21

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Is it possible that good design is the key to electoral success? (Probably not, but it's fun to guess...)

+ There's a detailed proposal for car sharing in the Capital Region.

+ Daniel says the Flying Chicken in Troy is no ordinary fried chicken place.

+ A huge new cancer prevention study is looking for participants in the Albany area.

+ After eyebrows were raised about the pay for UAlbany's new president, we looked at what college presidents in the Capital Region make and how it compares.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: a flying giant clog, surviving the Battenkill, college rankings, wills, cider donuts, offending curry, a breakfast panino, lunch redemption, Joe's Crab Shack, Moby Rick's, apples, food swap, LarkFest, Bannerman's Castle, threads, and a moment in Menands.

+ Looking ahead to winter, Kara asked about where to find a steam room.

+ There was an underground explosion in downtown Albany. Here's video of it.

+ Downtown Schenectady has a new third Friday series.

+ We gave a great basket of local products for the Local Harvest Festival by asking people: What are you hoping to harvest this fall? (There were a lot of good answers!)

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: easily annoyed punk rock girls at the front of the line, a welcome ogling, buttons -- lots of buttons, and something with a lot of cubbies.

+ Tim created a map of vacant buildings in Albany.

+ And Phantogram's playing at Pearl Palooza in downtown Albany on Saturday. (One of many things to do this weekend.)

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
