A quick recap of the week

week review 2013-03-02

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ A local company helped win an Oscar.

+ This week's My Exit person wore a unicorn head.

+ We pulled together another sampling of cooking classes.

+ Casey got the backstory on the Rapp Road Community Historic District. (It has some interesting history -- and its own smokehouse.)

+ Price Chopper and the state attorney general's office had some words over coupons.

+ We gave away tickets to a speakeasy night at the Ten Broeck Mansion by asking: If you had a speakeasy in the Capital Region today, what would the password be? (There was lots of fun answers.)

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the gentle man with the cleaver, unfortunate attention, local TV, WGY, a bridge, saving money, a lack of late-night food, Ale House vs. The Ruck, missing a diner, Dali Mamma, health food, the most stereotypically Upstate New York thing, and little details.

+ Jeff talked with a local beverage center about the great craft beers that they'd like to be able to get, but can't -- and some locally-available alternatives.

+ SUNY now has its own anthem.

+ After another string of vehicle/pedestrian crashes, a pledge for us to be better pedestrians and drivers.

+ A few of the the things found on Craigslist this week: clandestine urban meat rabbits, a couponing apprentice, a forlorn uretha, and a kid.

+ A bunch of photos from the rally outside the capitol to repeal the NY SAFE Act.

+ And Ed asked about a good place to buy men's dress shoes.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
