A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-08-15

Here are a few highlights from the past summer week on AOA:

+ Lauren talked with Sean Desiree of South End Pallet Works, who's turning discarded wood pallets into furniture.

+ CSR asked about finding a good real estate agent for Center Square.

+ A short history of Albany's water system -- a not-insignificant portion of its water mains are 150 years old, and there might even be some sections made out of wood.

+ We gave away tickets to Rest Fest by asking: What's something in the Capital Region that you'd like to restore?

+ Carolyn asked about easy trips from Albany to tropical locales.

+ Lauren talked with Emily Armstrong about the Little Free Libraries of Troy.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: when nothing seems like the right thing to say, cycling response, the Palmer-Gavit House, Montreal, the Berkshires, riverbank flowers, Blackhead Mountain, polo, Urban Raid, Sunday in Schenectady, a gem of a breakfast spot, bacon stromboli, and shrugging off the Altamont curse.

+ Nicole asked about finding a thing -- whatever it's called -- for attaching to very old sink faucets to combine the hot and cold water.

+ Deanna shared five winning food options at the Saratoga Race Course.

+ Lauren tried out the Capital City Brewcycle.

+ And we gave the Capital Region Bikeshare pilot a spin.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
