A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-06-12

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Nicole and Open House returned with a look at a renovated country home in Columbia County.

+ Strawberry season has arrived -- here are a handful of places around the region where you can pick your own.

+ The smoking rate in New York State fell to its lowest level on record last year.

+ We gave away tickets to the Hidden City House & Garden Tour + Lark Street goodies by asking: What's lovely?

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the little things, Mountain Jam, forgiveness, embracing change, owning your mistakes, Cherry Plain, the North Woods, fungi, The Fried Chicken Sandwich from God, The Killer Ketchup Burger, froyo, paella, unusual foods, sharing the share, and awe.

+ Frog concert.

+ We looked at the most popular baby names in New York State last year.

+ Alison walked us through some of the important points about the big project to completely rewrite Albany's zoning.

+ Lisa asked about suggestions for a venue for a casual engagement party.

+ And AR asked about finding sparklers, which are newly legal again. (Well, not in Albany County.)

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Also: tickets are on sale for this year's AOA summer tour -- we're headed back to Hudson! Last year's tour sold out, and we've already sold a bunch of tickets for this year. So don't wait!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
