A quick recap of the week

week review 2015-12-24

Here are a few highlights from the past short holiday week on AOA:

+ We commemorated Festivus with the annual Airing of Grievances -- and a drawing for Peppermint Pigs.

+ Here are some "sliding" photos of places in Albany comparing how they looked about a century ago with how they look now.

+ Bryon asked about finding a good fruitcake, and we could still some use suggestions for his question.

+ Deanna tried the Dutch drinking chocolate at the Vischer Ferry General Store.

+ That Bob & Ron's neon sign could be yours.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: almost buying a house, the Bethlehem Christmas sign situation, a Star Wars marathon, the cycling history of Albany, governors, mountain biking, dogs, burgers, First Choice, brunch, beer bottles, and travels farther afield.

+ A quick-scan list of the charities mentioned by people in this year's holiday gifts interviews.

+ A quick look at how New York State's population total for 2015 compares to the rest of the nation.

+ And a few bits of local holiday history.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
