Just in time for Valentine's Day -- or maybe President's Day -- winter has decided to make a return to the Capital Region. Temperatures could drop below zero over the next few days, so break out the hats, scarves and long underwear and get ready for the weekend.

We've stockpiled a whole bunch of stuff to do that will help keep you warm and happy -- at least through Monday.

The Flurry Festival
Friday-Sunday: The Flurry Festival returns to Saratoga this weekend. The festival is a weekend of music, dancing, workshops, storytelling, and other events -- more than 300 performances. Friday 7 pm to 1 am / Saturday 9 am to 1 am / Sunday 9 am to 5:30 pm -- various prices, on site sales are cash only

Winter Carnival
Friday-Sunday: The Lake George Winter Carnival continues every weekend through the month of February. This weekend's events include a scavenger hunt, barbecue cook-off, wagon rides, duck races, make-your-own sundaes, a human football tournament, and s'mores and fireworks on the beach. Saturday and Sunday various times -- free admission

Black History Month Step Show
Sunday: The annual Black History Month Step Show is back at The Palace. The show will include step teams from the Capital Region along with national teams. Blurbage: "Stepping is something that needs to be seen in order to be fully appreciated; the quick moves and split second changes showcase the talent, time and energy that each team puts into their choreography. Traditional Stepping has been around for generations and its' influence can be seen throughout modern and popular dance as well as in popular films like 'Stomp The Yard' and touring productions such as 'Stomp'." Sunday 5 pm - $23 / $18 kids and students

The Noodies -- A Burlesque tribute to The Goonies
Friday: C. Amanda Boutahorse and company perform The Noodies -- a burlesque tribute to the 80s classic film The Goonies -- at The Hangar in Troy. Hosted by stand-up comedian Jaye McBride. Friday 9 pm -- $15

Ain't Misbehavin'
Friday-Sunday: Ain't Misbehavin' continues at Albany Civic. The Fats Waller review boasts a powerhouse of Capital Region vocalists, including the amazing Barbara Howard. Friday and Saturday 7:30 pm / Sunday 3 pm -- $18

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Friday-Saturday: Home Made Theater in Saratoga opens a production of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Friday and Saturday at 8pm -- $24 / $27

Naked Influence
Friday-Sunday: This is closing weekend for Capital Rep's production of Naked Influence, a new play by Suzanne Bradbeer. Friday-Sunday various times -- $20 and up

Vagina Monologues
Sunday: Cafe 217 in Albany hosts a performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues. (The show continues through Tuesday.) Sunday 6:30 pm -- $35 per person, includes a three-course dinner and the show

That's not right
Friday-Saturday: Kevin Meaney headlines at The Comedy Works in Albany this weekend. Friday and Saturday 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm -- $25 show / $49.95 with dinner

Henry Phillips
Saturday: Comedian Henry Phillips will do two shows at The Madison Theater. Phillips has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Dr. Demento Radio Show, and Comedy Bang!Bang!. Phillips's film, Punching the Clown, is screening this week at The Madison. Saturday 7 pm and 9:30 pm -- $16.82

Gender Defenders
Sunday: Four stand-up comedians -- two male, two female -- will share views on love, life, and relationships as part of the Gender Defenders comedy show at Proctors. Sunday 8pm -- $25 and up

Theatersports
Friday: MopCo's Theatersports returns to Proctors this week. Two teams compete against each other creating scenes and songs based on audience suggestions. Think Whose Line is it Anyway?. Friday 8 pm -- $14 / $6 students and seniors

Sorry Not Sorry
Saturday: Improv in the afternoon with comedy troupes Sorry Not Sorry and Am I Right at The Low Beat. Saturday 1 pm

Triplets of Belleville
Saturday: Proctors is screening the popular animated feature The Triplets of Belleville with live accompaniment by Le Terrible Orchestre de Belleville with composer Benoît Charest. Saturday at 8pm -- $20 and up

Oscar-nominated short films
Friday-Sunday: The Spectrum is screening the Oscar-nominated live action and animated short films. (The screenings continue into next week.)

Museums
Winter weekends are great times to wander through one of the Capital Region's museums.

Gem Mineral and Fossil Show
Saturday-Sunday: The annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil show and sale returns to the State Museum. "More than 30 vendors from throughout the region will display and sell gems, minerals, fossils, and jewelry." Guided tours of the Minerals of New York Gallery will be offered at 2 pm each day. Saturday and Sunday 10 am-5 pm -- admission is $5 (cash only), free admission for kids 12 and under

Butterflies
Saturday-Sunday: MiSci's butterfly house opens on Saturday. "Discover hundreds of brilliantly colored native butterflies." The exhibit continues through April 19. free with museum admission

Seanachie Eves
Friday: The Irish American Heritage Museum in Albany hosts a Seanachie Eve Gaelic Storytelling Concert with a love theme. Friday 7 pm - free

Rockwell
The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls recently opened Norman Rockwell in the 1960s, featuring 21 illustrations and original magazine covers "created by the beloved artist during a decade of change and turmoil." (And while you're there, here are some fun places to eat in Glens Falls.)

+ If you're interested in more Norman Rockwell, you can head over to Stockbridge for the Norman Rockwell Museum.

Shakers
If you haven't seen the exhibit The Shakers: America's Quiet Revolutionaries at the State Museum, it closes at the start of March. So now's a good time to catch it before it's gone.

Collecting and 50 Objects
You can check out the Masterworks: 225 Years of Collecting exhibit at the Albany Institute. And there'a also The Capital Region in 50 Objects exhibit.

Eye for Excellence
The Clark has a good permanent collection, and there's currently an exhibit about how works have been added to it.

Volume Reading & Music Series
Saturday: The Spotty Dog in Hudson continues its Volume Reading & Music Series. The evening features readings from a mix of poetry and prose writers followed by a short DJ set. Saturday 7 pm -- free admission

Valentine's Day

Buds & Brew
Friday-Sunday: Superior Merchandise and Flower Scout host Buds and Brew workshops at which you can have a drink and create a Valentine's bouquet. And on Sunday they'll host a pop-up Valentine's Day flower shop from 10 am to 3 pm. Friday and Saturday 5-6 pm

Make & Take: In Love and Crafting
Saturday: The Albany Barn hosts a Valentine's Make and Take. Make a candy-covered fruit bouquet and romance-inspired map art. Light refreshments will be served. Saturday 7 pm -- $20

Cupid's Pub Crawl
Saturday: The 3rd annual Cupid's Pub Crawl to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Albany starts at LAX in Albany. Dress up in ridiculous Valentine's Day attire and visit Lark Street pubs and bars. Bring a designated driver. Saturday 3-7 pm -- $25 advance / $15 for students with valid ID / $30 at the door

Hockey
Saturday-Sunday: The Albany Devils have home games against Rochester (Saturday) and Bridgeport (Sunday). Saturday 5 pm / Sunday 3 pm - $16 and up

Hoop
Sunday: The UAlbany men's basketball team takes on Maine at SEFCU Arena. Sunday 2 pm -- $12 and up

Skating
There are a bunch of places around the Capital Region for ice skating, both outside (maybe) and inside -- we recently updated our listing and map of ice skating spots.

Farmers' markets
Stop by a farmers market for something local and delicious:
+ Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is inside the Atrium. Saturday 9 am-2 pm
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market is indoors at the Lincoln Baths. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket is at its indoor location at Proctors. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market is inside at the Lincoln Baths Sunday from 10 am-3 pm
