Stuff to do this weekend

albany st patrick's day parade 2014

It's St. Patrick's Day parade weekend in Albany.

Heads up: the time changes his weekend. We're springing forward an hour in the wee hours of Sunday, so if you've got plans that day, be careful not to be late.

On the plus side, we're inching closer to spring. According to the calendar we've got two weeks of winter -- if that's what you want to call what's been happening this week.

Meanwhile, there's a whole host of stuff to do this warm winter weekend, from parades and beer to maple sugar and comedy.

After the jump you'll find our list of stuff we thought you would enjoy. Planning something you don't see here? Tell us about it in the comments. And whatever you're up to, have a fantastic weekend.

Comments

FYI... The Phantom Carriage was directed by Victor Sjöström, a Swedish director, but not Ingmar Bergman. It was influential in Ingmar's work though.

The Rembrandt exhibit at the Arkell is very cool. Also worth checking out is a really great vintage shop around the corner from the museum called "Emotional Outlet".

ART

There’s a lot going on in the art scene right now. Our local artists are all busy preparing for openings and future shows and residencies.

If you missed the opening at the Laffer Gallery a few weeks ago, you still have a few weeks to catch the Space + Volume show with Robert Gullie and Gyula Varosy, which runs February 27 – April 3.

If you’re in the mood for a reception, you can go north or south on Saturday afternoon:

Susan Meyer
Lake George Arts Project
1 Amherst Street
Lake George, NY 12845
Saturday, March 12, 4 - 6- pm

Curran, Falleni and Passabet
Concepto Hudson
741 Warren Street Hudson, NY
Saturday, March 12, 5:00 to 8:00pm

SCRA has also been following Artist Abraham Ferraro in his studio and his plans for his show at The Arts Center in Troy are pretty grand and impressive. His show opens with a reception at the gallery and a fun after party (TBD) on Troy Night Out on March 25th.
