A quick recap of the week

week review 2016-10-08

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Nate asked about finding a good primary doctor/practice.

+ Reviewing the amount of state aid Albany gets compared to other cities.

+ Deanna stopped in at Kru Coffee to try a latte made with... butter.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: a pocketful of dates, Breathing Lights, Frederic Remington, legitimate merchandise, an old marker, the Schuyler Mansion, paddling on the Hudson, Salem, the Trask Art Show, Troy Kitchen, Downtown Bistro, the Brick House, the Olde English, and happy places.

+ Here are some renderings for the renovation of the TU Center's atrium, which officially started this week.

+ Cristin offered some suggestions for fall hikes in the Adirondacks that will probably be less crowded.

+ A big downtown Albany residential project got the OK to move forward.

+ We stopped to gawk at a film shoot in Troy, and chat a little bit about what's bringing movie shoots to this area.

+ Deanna had some advice on how to up your apple pie game. (Because apple season.)

+ The statue of Philip Sheridan that stands in front of the state Capitol is now a century old -- so here are 10 facts about the person it honors.

+ And we have an AOA event coming up at Nine Pin Cider Works October 25 -- the owners of Albany Distilling and Harvest Spirits will be there mixing up cider cocktails. Early bird tickets are on sale now and there are a just a few remaining.

Here's the whole week in one place.
