Stuff to do this weekend

Tugboat

The wee tugboats are in town.

Saturday sunshine, Sunday rain.

So is the glass half empty or half full?

This weekend's answer: it's overflowing with stuff to do.

After the jump you'll find a few things we thought might be fun to try. If you've got another plan in mind, share with the group.

Cheers.

Tugboats
We love small things that do big jobs. Maybe that's why we love tugboats. Or maybe it's just that they're cute. Anyway, this weekend is the Waterford Tugboat Round-up. It starts today, when the Tugboat Parade leaves Albany at around 2:45. The boats will be passing by Troy at around 3:45 and should arrive at the Port of Waterford between 5 and 6 tonight. They'll be there all weekend long for a festival with tours, rides, music, kids activities and fireworks. Free.

Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then

Baseball is still alive in September here! The Tri-City ValleyCats won their playoff series Thursday and are going to the championship series in the New York-Penn League. They're home at Bruno Stadium for Game 1 vs. Brooklyn at 7 p.m. Saturday night, with fireworks to follow. It's a best of 3, with the other game(s) in Coney Island. Go Cats!

Rich beat me to the punch, so look at it this way instead: The Red Sox are injury riddled, the Mets are a disaster, and the Yankees with their ever-highest payroll in baseball have somehow succeeded in making winning a yawn-inducing affair while on their way to buying another title (with only Tampa Bay standing in their way). So the only ballclub to root for in the Capital Region is the Tri-City ValleyCats. Go Cats!

There's also an Italian Festival in Schenectady. http://blog.timesunion.com/tablehopping/17391/little-italy-fest-returning-to-schenectady/
