Skipping ahead to the good parts

salt trailer 2 ESP

Hey, that's not Washington, DC...

Amy pointed out recently that both Salt and The Other Guys are now available for streaming from Netflix -- which makes it a lot easier to just watch the scenes shot in Albany.

If you're so inclined, here's where the Albany scenes show up...

Salt
Albany's star turn begins at 33:30. (The sequence that sets it up starts at 31:00 -- but it's people chasing Angelina, you get the idea). The Albany skyline is pretty much impossible to miss. Marvel at how the US Capitol co-exists with the U-Haul building. The segment runs until 37:00.

The Other Guys
Downtown Albany makes an appearance at the very beginning of the movie. Wide shots of Broadway are intercut with closeups of Samuel L. Jackson and The Rock (unlike Angelina, they apparently did not visit our fair city). If you watch closely, you can make out some of the storefronts on Broadway -- including the TU Center. There are video clips online of some of the stunts being shot in Albany.

Earlier on AOA:
+ Like Salt in a wound -- Albany gets no love in the Salt credits
+ So, is Salt any good?
+ More Angelina and more Albany
+ That's Angelina and that's Albany
+ What about The Other Guys?
+ Speeding Car + Ramp + Bus = Yeah!

This is SUCH a great idea for a post!

Toward the climax (the scene with the helicopter) of the Other Guys (sorry, I don't know the time stamp), some the of the shots were also shot downtown. They even brought in a helicopter. As with the opening scene, downtown Albany is interspersed with NYC. You can really see Broadway and Maiden Lane in that segment.

When my husband and I watched The Good Guys we went through the credits to look for Albany love. And there was none there either- just like Salt.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
