The Solid Sound Festival -- and Wilco -- are back at MASS MoCA this weekend.

It's the first official weekend of summer. Yes, it's a little soggy, but you're not going to let that stop you. Right?

Troy Night Out
Wait, it's the last Friday of the month? Already? Yep. Tonight is Troy Night Out. Put on your Wellies and check out the art and music in The Collar City. Weather permitting there's swing in Barker Park and tango at The Daily Grind -- with tango lessons from 5:30-6. You can catch mini Trashion shows at 6:30 and 7:30 at The Arts Center for the Capital Region. The Pioneer Food Market has a food tasting from 5-7 and of course there's the official TNO after-party at Daisy Baker's.

Nadia Trinkala Memorial Art Exhibit
The memorial exhibit in honor of the late Capital Region artist Nadia Trinkala opens tonight at The Fulton Street Gallery in Troy as part of Troy Night Out. The show includes jewelry design, painting, photography and other creative avenues Trinkala explored.

Solid Sound Festival
The Wilco-curated Solid Sound Festival gets underway today at MASS MoCA. In addition to a bunch of music, there's also comedy (John Hodgman and Wyatt Cenac are in the mix) and art (the galleries will be open). Single day passes are still available for all three days ($65/$78/$65). Three day passes are $124.50.

Old Songs Festival
The Altamont Fairgrounds hosts the annual Old Songs Festival today through Sunday. It's three days of folk, Celtic and world music and dance. Tickets start at around $35.

Jazzfest
Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Angelique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves and Michael McDonald are just a few of the folks who will perform this weekend at the Freihofer Jazz Festival at SPAC. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets start at $45, $35 for kids, under 12 free on the lawn.

Concert for Japan
Japanese musicians from the Albany, Schenectady and Syracuse symphony orchestras are giving a benefit concert for Japans earthquake and tsunami victims. Saturday at 6 at the Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church in Schenectady. Suggested donation - $10 for adults, $5 for children.

+ Tonight at Helsinki Hudson: New Orleans funk with The Soul Rebels Brass Band. 9 pm - $18
+ Tonight at Putnam Den: Lo Faber and Aaron Maxwell from God Street Wine. 9 pm
+ Tonight at Red Square: act name of the week candidate Goosepimp Orchestra, a jammy/jazzy/funky/trippy 8-piece. 8 pm
+ Tonight at Valentine's: local metal band Amalgama plays its farewell show. Also on the bill: Bishop. 8 pm - $10
+ Saturday at Hudson River Coffee House: an album release party for Severe Severe. 9 pm
+ Saturday at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock: Tuba Skinny, a group that plays 20s and 30s-style dixieland jazz and blues. Here's a clip of them busking in New Orleans. 9 pm - $10
+ Saturday at Valentine's: Gurf Morlix, from Austin, playing a tribute to Blaze Foley. 8 pm - $15
+ Saturday at Red Square: all the way from Greenwich (New York), Eastbound Jesus. With The Landlines. 8 pm - $8.

Roller Derby
The Albany All Stars close out their season tomorrow night with a bout at the Washington Avenue Armory. Tickets are $12 at the door. $4 for kids under 12. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the bout starts at 7.

Theater
It's summer festival season. Here are a few things you might want to try:
+ The Underpants, Steve Martin's adaptation of a German farce, continues this weekend at Confetti Stage at the Albany Masonic Hall. Tonight and Saturday at 8. Sunday at 2.

+ The Adirondack Theater Festival at The Charles Wood Theater in Glens Falls presents the one-woman show The K of D, an urban legend . Tonight and Saturday at 8. $35.

+ A Streetcar Named Desire is on the Nikos Stage at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Tonight at 7:30, Saturday at 2 and 7:30. Sunday at 2.

+ Barrington Stage Company presents Guys and Dolls. Tonight and Saturday at 8. Sunday at 5. $15-$60.


Comedy
The Mop and Bucket Company presents a new Chortal Kombat improv show tonight at 8, Underground at Proctors.

Family Fun Day
The Village of Ballston Spa is hosting a Family Fun Day on Sunday at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. 3-9 p.m. followed by fireworks. Free.

Baseball
+ The Valley Cats are at home all weekend. Friday and Saturday's games are at 7. Sunday's game starts at 5. Tickets start at $5 Sunday they're celebrating graduates with The World's Biggest Graduation Party and a giant sundae.

+ The Albany Dutchmen have home games on Saturday and Sunday at their new ballpark. Games start at 7. Adult tickets are $5 kids are $4. Under 5 -Free.

Swimming
Sunday might be a promising pool day. Many of the area swimming pools, beaches and sprinklers are open as of this weekend.

Weekend + Summer = ice cream
Ice cream on a summer weekend just makes sense. Try someplace from the Tour de Soft Serve or AOA's Ice Cream Tour.

Zumbathon
Saturday from 9-noon Best Fitness on Watt Street in Schenectady is hosting the areas largest outdoor Zumbathon to benefit the family of Devon LaPrade, a local child with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma -- an inoperable brain tumor. $10

Road trips
Take a shopping trip to Northampton or spend 12 hours in Ulster County, Bennington, Vermont or Columbia County.

Farmers' markets
Saturday: Troy, Saratoga, Delmar. Sunday: Schenectady and the new Malta Drive-in Market.

Brunch
Spend a lazy morning/afternoon lingering over brunch and a Bloody Mary or enjoy a great diner breakfast.

There's a vintage toy show at the Holiday Inn Express on Wolf Road from 10-6 on Sunday, 6/26. It's run by the crew that does Albany Comic Con twice a year.
