A quick recap of the week

week review 20012-03-31

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Soapbox: Martin has gotten cranky at the ripe old age of 33.

+ Siobhan took us on a field trip to MerchNow in Colonie -- a business built on punk rock and yoga.

+ Jay asked about where to have lunch in downtown Troy -- there were a lot of suggestions.

+ Daniel says you should try Lloyd Spear's honey.

+ A large alleged drug network based in Albany was busted.

+ Blind man driving!

+ Jim asked about finding a good landscape/hardscape company.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: walking the neighborhood in 1920, the urban fabric, leaving Saratoga, getting aligned, a less-than-great escape, Moroccan food, beer in Troy, pasta in Clifton Park, All Good Bakers, Shogun, mini golf, bridesmaids dresses, luck, and a lineup from the local news.

+ How walkable, relatively, is Albany?

+ Alex asked about finding a good pool service.

+ Jack McEneny has decided to not run for re-election.

+ Handsome in Troy (be sure to read the comments).

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: an act of kindness, sleeping beauty in the Walmart parking lot, riding the ab coaster, and a rooster named Finegan.

+ The local job situation isn't getting worse -- it's just not getting much better, either.

+ When the future included driving on the Empire State Plaza.

+ Will asked about for suggestions about short term housing rentals.

+ There was an arrest in the odd case involving mercury spread around the Albany Med cafeteria. Earlier in the week the medical center had posted a $25,000 reward for info.

+ And here are a ton of photos from the AOA birthday party at the City Beer Hall. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
