A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-10-27

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We took a trip to North Creek.

+ A dog fell down a cliff at Thacher Park -- and lived.

+ We gave away tickets to a screening of the restored Night of the Living Dead at The Spectrum by asking: How would you survive a zombie apocalypse in the Capital Region?

+ The state's highest court ruled against a Latham strip club's argument that stripping and lap dances should qualify for a sales tax exemption as "dramatic or musical arts performances."

+ We talked with Ric Orlando about pairing food and wines, America's slowly changing palate, Italy's gastronomic intelligentsia, cheap wine vs. bad wine, and licking hubcaps.

+ Casey shared some ideas for fall hikes around the region.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: convincing people to move to Troy, pumpkins, foliage, North Creek, Morrissey, influence, Richard Russo, llamas, a ShopRite convert, hot dog-ology, new sushi, excellent eggs, restaurant week, ribs, Vermont, special cat food, and a lesson from Cooperstown.

+ A few things found on Craigslist this week: farting, obscene beauty at the Brown Bag, a river ice saw, and a set of dollhouse furniture.

+ Casey took a field trip to Peaceful Acres, a horse sanctuary in Schenectady County.

+ Yet more bumper gawking.

And the last week of Tournament of Pizza 2012:

+ Results from the very interesting semi-finals -- which were Buffalo chicken pizzas (a TOP first).

+ We crunched a bunch of stats from the modern era of the TOP.

+ And, of course, the result from the final matchup: DeFazio's vs. Marisa's Place.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
