A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-05-23

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ The schedule for this summer's Rockin' on the River series in Troy is out.

+ There's an opening date for the Colonie Center Whole Foods. Prepare in the manner you deem appropriate.

+ Lauren talked with photographer John Bulmer about his great series of photos that imagine Capital Region locations after we're gone. (You know, because of the zombie apocalypse, or whatever.)

+ V. asked about suggestion for good stylists for Asian hair.

+ Lauren talked with the owners of the Eat Good Food truck, who are teaming up with other local food trucks for events.

+ A ranking about pedestrian safety that included the Albany metro area prompted a lot of discussion about how drivers and pedestrian get along (or don't) in the Capital Region.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: criticism, stop signs, workforce challenging, Opus 40, Garrison Keillor, chain restaurants, Fresh Market, a pho tour, Reel Seafood, Boca Bistro, mini hot dogs, the earliest merchants of Troy, wildflowers, and when they were young.

+ We talked with a labor market analyst about why the Capital Region's unemployment rate is dropping -- and yet there appears to be fewer people with jobs.

+ New York State has never had a female governor -- and a new female lieutenant governor (if that happens) probably won't push much it closer.

+ Lauren started a series highlighting local parks with a stop at Peebles Island State Park, great spot right in the middle of the Capital Region.

+ Can you guess the Capital Region's 10 biggest private sector employers?

+ And Nicole talked with the owners of a beautiful parkside brownstone in Troy for the Open House series.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
