A quick recap of the week

week review 2008-12-13

Here are some highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We sipped some drinking chocolate at Crisan.

+ Amanda asked where she could get a t-shirt she'd seen at a party -- and it looks like someone found it for her.

+ David Paterson complained that people were treating the Hillary Clinton Senate seat succession story like reality TV. Good idea! We would totally watch Top Senator.

+ We found a list of Albany's biggest parking ticket scofflaws.

+ We ate at The Standard, the new restaurant at Crossgates.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: crafting, restaurants, attitude, outfits, drinks and a thickening of the plot.

+ A few of the things we found on Craigslist: downsized iguanas, hairless rats for your kids, very flat German shepherds, wedding crashers, a wedding-date-seeking psychologist who loves Vespas, a 7-foot-tall wooden Indian.

+ A note to CDTA about those electronic schedules.

+ Layoffs are coming to RPI -- but the email announcing them kind of buried the lede.

+ We broke out the Winter Storm Meter for Icy, Snowy Apocalypse Watch.

+ The storm did bring some ice -- and knocked out power for a bunch of people. It also made for some interesting pictures.

+ Local holiday gifts: The Peppermint Pig, tea from The Good Leaf, pet treats from Sherry's Kitchen and beer from Brewery Ommegang.

Thanks to everyone who sent along ideas, links, pictures, corrections and comments this week.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
