Great comments from this week

quote bubbleWe get hundreds of comments here at AOA each week. Here are a few that made us think or laugh this week.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment!

About the migration to the suburbs

"The migration is probably rent related: If I have to pay $900 a month in rent I might as well pay a thousand and have a mortgage in a crappy suburb."

... said Aaron

"@Aaron exactly the reason I moved out of Albany. I could live in a busy city with terrible parking and noise for $1000 a month for a 3br, or I could live on 1+ acres for $1000 a month in my own house out past east greenbush. The decision was an easy one."

... said Katie

"@Katie - its definately a give-and-take though, right? We moved to sticks (eventually got nearby jobs too), but we find we really miss a few things about city living - especially movie theaters and Indian food."

... said Barold

(And there was a lot more good discussion, including a great comment from rebecca)

About the article about the president of Stewart's Shops

"I can't believe you made it all the way to the end of the article to find that out. I was waiting for them to give Dake's shoe size, favorite color, first kiss, blood type..."

... said amymengel

About parking in Center Square

"Pay for a spot, its the only civilized way to live."

... said Karin

"Note to state workers: Stalking people coming out of their homes for parking is NOT OKAY."

... said biodiva

"I hear that you can get some special sticker to place on your car that makes parking a breeze no matter where you are in Albany. Just ask any of the local cops or politicians for one."

About the Park Playhouse staging High School Musical

"Nothing says "recession" like the schlock theatres put on. It's all about the money- not what's really interesting."

... said KatherineSass

"I'm surprised by the cynicism about this! I too was skeptical, but I meandered into the Playhouse last night and saw an extremely respectful and diverse crow enjoying a beautiful summer night performance in Albany. Yeah, it's not Shakespeare, but it's something different (and safe) bringing families and kids together from all across the region...a good "draw" which adds a sense of vibrancy to the Park/Center Square area."

... said Rob

About Kim's lineup of Capital Region bobbleheads

"I have a problem with politician bobbleheads that sport advertsing.

I also would like to know how Harry Tutunjian has a deeper tan that Jerry Jennings."

... said Rob

About the guy who used a toddler as a shield

"Babies add, at most, +1 to your Armor Class, but restrict your ability to use two-handed weapons.

Unless it's some sort of Krytonian Baby.
Then it's +5 (or only +3 if Lex Luther has his kryptonite ring on.)"

... said Sandor

About a Kirsten Gillibrand comment being called sexist

"Many politicians are bloviators. There were plenty of gags about Bill Clinton being low-winded. If Gillibrand went over her time limit, then she went over her time limit. It has nothing to do with "speaking Truth to Power" and other feminist cliches. (And I say this as a card carrying women's libber.) The National Organizaton for Women-NYS should focus on issues that matter."

... said chrisck

"That press release does more for the stereotype that women are fragile flowers with delicate sensibilities than the comic did for the chatty-cathy stereotype.

(side note: that is a ridiculously phallic sock though)"

... said draper

"Sometimes a sock is just a sock, Draper."

... said Rob

About the pot man cave at the ESP

"These guys are going to give sleeping at work a bad name."

... said Rob

"Haha, that sounds just like something I did in high school.

I mean, those bastards!"

... said Summer

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
