A quick recap of the week

week review 2010-03-20

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ The metro area was tagged as a green city -- which a few people said didn't quite fit.

+ Jessica told us about the birthplace of modern toilet paper: Albany.

+ That principle needs a pal.

+ Sebastien sent along a bunch of photos from the St. Patrick's Day parade.

+ OK Go is headlining this year's Tulip Festival.

+ People offered a lot of helpful suggestions about where to have a small wedding.

+ Apparently UAlbany and Albany Law prof Paul Morgan really is top shelf.

+ Kaitlin checked out what's available locally in the Liberty for Target collection.

+ What was up in the Neighborhoood this week: the Kayaderosseras Creek, a ban on winners, a divine appetizer, beautiful meat, drinks, cheese, beer, flowers, eggs, stinky fruit, Billy Joel and Elton John, a handsome street and specific graffiti.

+ A bona fide nerd sex symbol will be the commencement speaker at RPI this year.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a guy in need of a man date, a leprechaun looking to get lucky, shopping at Walmart with a complete stranger and an animatronic Hannibal Lecter.

+ Jessica told us about a program looking to re-purpose vacant city lots.

+ Siena put up a good fight against Purdue in the NCAA tournament. But the Saints couldn't pull out a win -- even with Jimmy Fallon's backing.

+ Easily the cutest My Exit DJ ever.

+ And spring weather arrived.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or sent along an idea this week.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
