A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-01-08

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ New York has a new governor (you might have heard) -- two quick looks at what he was saying this past week.

+ The state's selling jeans for just pennies a leg -- really big legs.

+ We pulled together a bunch of Capital Region gym deals.

+ Kirsten Gillibrand is moving to Albany -- temporarily, at least. And she was on the Daily Show this week.

+ Kathleen asked about the spiciest foods in the Capital Region.

+ It appears this season's flu wave is upon us.

+ Looking to learn something this year? Here are a bunch of interesting local classes.

+ Chrissy asked about finding a good plumber.

+ A few of the topics in the Neighborhood this week: cord cutting, photos, good food from the last year, happy meat, Jack's, Quintessence, whiskey, an embarrassing year, Pez, retired race horses, and a smelly porcupine.

+ Albany Jane told us about a new Mexican market in Albany that sells tacos.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: attractive snacking, an invented life story, the offer of barbering (if that's the word), and an accordion.

+ Here are a few places the kids can bounce off the walls (you know, so they don't have to bounce off the walls at home).

+ Akum sat down for some eggs -- and history -- at Uncle Dan's Diner.

+ The Frito pie (in a bag) at the Wine-N-Diner caught our attention.

+ Katie pulled together a bunch opportunities for snowshoeing in the Capital Region.

+ And Barack Obama is coming to Schenectady on Tuesday (you might have heard). He's scheduled to be here for 110 minutes.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

Um, guys? The continuing education link you've posted for Troy is for Troy, MICHIGAN. Just a little bit ouf of the 518.
Thanks for the compilation anyway.

Editors: Well, that would be a bit of a hike. Thanks for catching that. Fixed.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
