A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-09-03

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Hurricane/tropical storm Irene dumped a lot of rain in upstate New York. And the flooding was bad. Photos from the flooding in Troy and the Stockade area of Schenectady.

+ The flooding was even worse in the Catskills. Here's a snapshot of what Irene left behind in one town.

+ Here's how to help with the flood recover effort.

+ The Restoration Festival persevered through Irene and was a lot of fun. Bennett shared photos from festival.

+ Rebecca asked about a finding a good roofer to work on her slate roof.

+ Soapbox: with August ending, Martin thought about the summer he could have had.

+ Albany's historic -- and, sadly, now gone -- Trinity Church was reconstructed... in LEGO.

+ Carl shared the story about how Albany set the trend in academic fashion.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: flooding, Troy on the rise, farms, home, distracting fungi, Amherst, a one-room schoolhouse, can you hear me now?, vegan brunch, burgers, and blue ribbons.

+ Amber asked about finding a good hair colorist -- and people had lots of suggestions.

+ Edith told us about the new Troy Music Academy, a school run by rockers.

+ Danielle talked with Samson Contompasis about the Living Walls public art project.

+ And Akum spent a night in a castle.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
