A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-08-11

Here are a few highlights from the past holiday week on AOA:

+ Leah was on the Soapbox talking about how she's trying to raise her kids to be brave -- even when the world keeps pointing toward being fearful.

+ Casey had some advice on how to hike the Adirondack High Peaks -- and not end up as "that guy."

+ A local Olympian failed a drug test because of pot brownies.

+ The Curiosity rover landed on Mars -- one of the scientists involved is a dean at RPI.

+ The full Restoration Festival lineup is out.

+ Unsurprisingly particular about what he eats for breakfast, Daniel says you should eat the Maple Crunch Granola from Our Daily Eats.

+ The poster said hipsters deserve what?

+ After it was revealed that the early summer has influenced the Karner Blue butterfly, we counted up some of the other signs from the Year of Odd Weather.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: better in Burlington, unrealistic expectations, a Tardis, a re-do, an indictment, mayhem, a triathlon, a tasting menu, Druthers, blueberries, corn ice cream, Track frites, Trader Joe's, the worst, and how to be a better person.

+ We caught the outdoor movie at the ESP. It was fun.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: the 2,900th extra mile, searching for a date for Trader Joe's, two barns, and a well-mannered miniature stallion.

+ We talked with Honest Weight about its new location -- and how it sees its place the ever more crowded local supermarket scene.

+ The full music lineup for this year's LarkFest is out.

+ And after the whole "people are afraid to come to downtown Albany" thing, a few thoughts on closing the "reassurance gap" there.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
