A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-02-01

Here are a few highlights from the past short week on AOA:

+ Pretty great: The ASO won a Grammy.

+ Concert announcements: Neko Case at The Egg, Jack Johnson/Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at SPAC.

+ Noticed: Many of the condos in downtown Saratoga Springs are way up there.

+ Explainer: Why Albany is playing a major role in the transportation of oil, and why that concerns some people.

+ Caitlin asked about good spinning classes.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: civilized cycling, a personal half marathon, the right moment, Burlington, disco fries, dumplings, pizza snark, pizza class, cookie cutter beer festivals, wine tasting, Madison Pourhouse, dim sum, frazil ice, YakTrax, big brains, and The Living Skeleton.

+ AJW asked about finding a good spa, as a gift to a friend.

+ A fun bit of local history: Bobsled racing started in Albany. Really. (Probably.)

+ Among the items found on Craigslist this week: a Christmas tree made out of Bud Light bottles -- and it's free.

+ Lauren returned with another episode from her wedding planning: this time she was shopping for a wedding dress.

+ We talked with DJ Trumastr about his name, making it as a full-time DJ, J Dilla, something he'd like to see changed about this area, and... whales.

+ And: Capital Region neighborhoods/places and their NYC area analogs.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
