A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-04-25

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ The winner of the 2014 AOA Startup Grant is...

+ Behold, the most 80s thing you'll see all week (maybe all year): a promo video for Crossgates Mall from 1984.

+ We had a question about a driving instructor for adults. (We could still use some suggestions for this one.)

+ We gave away tickets to A Taste of Albany by asking people to fill in the blank: >I know it's spring in the Capital Region when __________.

+ Lauren had another post in her series about planning a Capital Region wedding -- this time she talked with a couple who sorta-eloped to the Adirondacks.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: signs of spring, the week in flowers, an almost collision, the Boston Marathon, gimlets at the hardware store, Dodge the Deer, New Haven pizza, Maine pot pie, the Tour de FroYo, fries in Cooperstown, tapas in Schenectady, fried pig intestine, spring items, spices, wine class, and traditions.

+ The slate for this summer's At The Plaza series at the ESP is out.

+ And Lauren talked with a person trying to bring "damn good" bagels to Troy.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
