A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-07-19

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ A boatload of photos from the AOA Rail, River, Hudson trip.

+ The state is putting up money for a new chip research consortium at the NanoCollege, a topic which state leaders say they don't understand. So, how much should they understand before giving out tens of millions of dollars?

+ Blueberry season has arrived! Here are some pick-your-own blueberry spots around the Capital Region.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the Boilermaker, canoe camping, rafting, botanical bingeing, berry picking, Dancing Ewe, Another Fork in the Road, a cinnamon horn, pizza, beer, a hangover, small complaints, national TV, and not hurrying.

+ A new project is aiming to help transform vacant industrial buildings in the Capital Region into new uses (residential, for example).

+ That time whales swam up the Hudson to Albany. Really.

+ What it was like to be a teenager on Friday night in Troy during the 1940s. (This was a very fun interview.)

+ Talking with local tech firm president Annmarie Lanesey about new-schooling rebates, tech bros, and different perspectives.

+ Eric asked about where to buy specialty wood for craft/restoration/reconstruction projects.

+ And the story of the $1,000 tip at the Ginger Man.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
