A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-12-12

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ A bunch of photos from this year's Santa Speedo Sprint.

+ Daniel's Best Dozen donut quest made a stop at the Cookie Factory in Troy.

+ The Nipper building is for sale.

+ Deanna followed a friend's recommendation to the lunch buffet at First Choice Caribbean.

+ We pulled the data on the busiest Thruway exits -- the busiest is right here in the Capital Region.

+ Albany Archives shared the mystery -- and answer! -- of the Bryan Stone in Albany.

+ What was up in The Neighborhood this week: The Neighborhood That Disappeared, the Dead Frog Circus, things Albany to go, Stewart's signage, Tavern Noodle, sliders, crawfish, Burger 21, sushi, dim sum, pizza subconscious, creative photography, tracks, warding off snow, and the proverbial chill pill.

+ We gave away a pizza or pasta class at DeFazio's by asking: If you could give someone/something in the Capital Region a trophy, to whom/what would you give it and why?

+ Capital Region projects got $60 million from the state Regional Economic Development Council awards -- here's an easy-scan list.

+ Alison asked about finding a good gym in/near Albany.

And more holiday gift lists -- this year we're asking people about what they'd like to give, what they'd like to get, a charity they'd like to support, and a favorite gift from their childhood. From this week:

+ Comedian Ethan Ullman
+ Rachel Person from Northshire Bookstore

+ Musical theater teacher and performer Brandon Jones

+ Katie O'Malley Maloney from Katie O' Weddings & Events

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
