A quick recap of the week

week review 2016-10-15

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Map quiz: old streets, new names.

+ Val asked about good used book stores for children's books.

+ We got a look around the new Troy Innovation Garage co-working space in Troy.

+ We gave away tickets to Northshire events with Jennifer Weiner and Meg Wolitzer -- plus a gift card to the new Fish at 30 Lake -- by asking: What's something you've read over the past year (or so) that you really liked, or made you think, or that you'd recommend to something else?

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: a pretty lake with cranberries, the Boreas Ponds, Cliff Mountain, Mohawk River State Park, three counties, being more aware, changing communication, the Tour de Donut, Indian Ladder, Westfall Station Cafe, Cilantromex, the well-known resident of Catherine Street, and another bit about the Schuyler Mansion.

+ "Albany's Premier Food Center" (back then)

+ Sometimes people do ill-advised things while driving -- and sometimes those things are caught on video.

+ We scanned through the new list of the Capital Region Economic Development Council's priority projects (it includes a lot craft beverages).

+ And some backstory on the John W. Emery building in downtown Albany (you'll know it when you see it).

Here's the whole week in one place.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
