A quick recap of the week

week in review composite 2008-10-18

Here are some highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We noticed a few places that are either giving discounts for using cash or tacking on a fee for using a credit card. And then people pointed out a few more.

+ Andrew answered a few questions about his big pink bike.

+ Amy told us about how we can buy our very own urinal -- cheap! -- at Habitat ReStore.

+ We pointed out the closest IKEA, though Hank said the New Haven store is worth the extra miles.

+ Jessica had a drink among the taxidermy at Peint o Gwrw Tafarn in Chatham.

+ A moment of autumn zen.

+ Talked about in the Neighborhood this week: dick mode, bar paparazzi, conversations on the bus, a mystery solved and snapshots from the supermarket.

+ Amy found out that, talking Elvis aside, there's not much to see at Tuesday Morning in Schenectady.

+ We dug up some facts on pay-as-you-throw garbage collection (it's a possibility for Albany) -- and people had plenty to say about it.

+ This week on Craigslist: cute multitasking, flirting on the playground, walruses, the scent of a beautiful woman, a leopard gecko, talking to animals and a big bucket of tar.

+ Albany County was on Morning Edition -- and look out Menands!

+ It's a great time of year to take a walk. We suggested a few places you might enjoy.

Thanks to everyone who sent us great stuff this week. As always, we appreciate it.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
