A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-09-10

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Two Soapboxes from the fair: Siobhan caught a few signs of the times in Columbia County, and Tim found a connection to local farms in Washington County.

+ A tornado crossed the Thruway near Amsterdam -- and there was video.

+ We gave away tickets to the Saratoga Wine & Food Festival's grand tasting by asking people: What does it mean to live the good life in the Capital Region?

+ More than half a billion dollars was bet on the racing at Saratoga this summer.

+ Eat this: Cowbella blueberry yogurt from Schoharie County.

+ Are you an Upstate American?

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: floods, wild turkeys, celebrity fundraising, an enormous mushroom and an insect threesome, FDR, the odds of closing, banh mi, cider donuts, a monster shake, square pizza, fried chickens, a trivia tour, and Where's Walbany?

+ It's art made from the steamy love letters of a famous Troy industrialist.

+ That delicious smell at the Troy Farmers' Market? Probably the Liège waffles from Pika's.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a multi-semester crush, a nerdy screen for women, a ball and chain, and a loose tongue.

+ The red/brown color of the Hudson and other local waterways is not an omen. Probably.

+ Parker Posey needs to pee.

+ If you're not careful, your face will freeze that way.

+ Cute car.

+ And voting for the 2011 Tournament of Pizza field is open until Sunday at 6 pm. Vote now!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
