A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-09-17

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Soapbox: after a "hipster uprising," Kim asked, "What keeps you from shouting "I love living in ____!!"

+ A great video by Bryan Thomas from the Discard Avant Garb show.

+ Greg asked about what to do with a car that's come to the end of its life.

+ Four more pizza shops got a spot in the 2011 Tournament of Pizza thanks to crowd voting.

+ We put together a map/listing of places to pick apples in the Capital Region. (We called it the "mapple.")

+ You might have wondered what's been going on at the intersection of the Washington Ave and Fuller Road -- here's what's up.

+ Local colleges fared relatively well in the US News college rankings (not important, of course... unless your school ranked well...).

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Jerry Jennings and his signs, the canal system, photos in a sporting goods store, onerous demands, the Saratoga Wine and Food Fest, a cheese tour, gold prices, time running out, the extra mile, snacks for A Spot Past the Conifers, crazypants breakfast, a formidable sandwich, the Giants, ghost signs, and a stone dog.

+ You know what's a happy sight? A box full of doughboys.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: bedside manner, cute girls in Rensselaer, button-down shirt trading, and Hollywood Video.

+ We got to see the Living Walls project in action.

+ Tim toured Washington County's cheeses. It was very gouda.

+ Here's a pre-play of the LarkFest musical acts.

+ Check it out: Sean Rowe playing at NPR.

+ And we're giving an autumn wardrobe refresh to two people, courtesy of Best Cleaners. So, enter!

The link to "four more pizza shops" is jumping to "what to do with a junk car". Just thought you should know!

Editors: Fixed. Thanks!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
