A quick recap of the week

week review 2013-09-14

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to the last home game of the season for the (league champion) ValleyCats by asking: What's your favorite memory of the summer of 2013?

+ We checked out the fun "An Armory Show" at the Opalka Gallery.

+ The Palace's new classic movie series slate looks good.

+ W asked about where to rent a wheelchair.

+ Elisabeth stopped into Dali Mamma to talk with downtown lunch spot's owner about sourcing local ingredients -- and remembering people's names.

+ Kathy Sheehan won the Democratic primary for Albany mayor. More quick-scan primary results.

+ Erin asked about finding a good ENT doctor. (And ended up having a good experience.)

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: food and wine festival, burgers, "the best beer bar in the Capital Region," brunch at the Olde English, empanadas, chicken parm night, Tour de Cider Donut, Maine, Vroman's Nose, the train, a craggy peak, fungi, jazz, TNO, a question about flashing, the games once played, a blue ribbon experience, paffing the bridge.

+ We considered the closest darkest place.

+ Cheryl asked about finding a good home inspector.

+ Among the items found on Craigslist this week: a nice person with an umbrella, thought about how to get arrested, goat bucklings, 70 coffee mugs.

+ We talked with a few of the people involved with the Albany Ale project, which is resurrecting a century old beer -- and part of Albany's history.

+ And this new mural on Central Ave in Albany is excellent.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
