A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-06-07

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Jessica asked for thoughts on renting vs. buying in the Capital Region.

+ A bunch of the free summer concert series on one combined schedule.

+ Emily asked for location suggestions for her company picnic.

+ With air conditioner season here, how New York State generates electricity.

+ Anonymous asked about finding a good allergist.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the Albany Bear, nature, the Vermont City Marathon, a moment with horses, the inner lumberjack, a photo contest, Yankee Stadium, Rare Form Brewing, fast casual, friday night cookout, Natural Way Cafe, the Hudson Berkshire Wine and Food Festival, breakfast sandwiches, things uncontrollable, and shinney.

+ The red light camera conversation in Albany got a new tune.

+ The developers behind the E23 casino proposal in Albany decided to dump it in favor of a spot in Rensselaer -- a few thoughts about that, and the casino process generally.

+ Allison put some numbers -- and few different ideas -- to the question of how to get a supermarket in downtown Albany. It prompted a lot of discussion.

+ An odd bit of local history.

+ And Lauren shared "the closest thing in this area to a real beach."

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
