A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-12-05

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Daniel continued the Best Dozen donut quest with a stop at Market Bistro.

+ Shawn asked about getting water line problem fixed.

+ A big, big list of holiday events around the Capital Region this month.

+ Here are a bunch of possible locations for the Albany red light cameras.

+ Joanna asked about where to take singing lessons.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Thanksgiving, turkey trotting, Christmas trees, a day on the job, opened/closed, Korean BBQ, disappointing meals, burgers, pastries, the Pine Bush, snow shoveling, the steam plant, and friendship.

+ We got a look at the new Urban Grow Center in Troy -- it's the new headquarters for Capital Roots (formerly Capital District Community Gardens).

+ The co-directors of The Throwaways offered four ways to help change things for the better in marginalized communities.

+ We talked with photographer Holly Greene about her super closeup snowflake photos.

+ Holiday cocktail tour! We asked a handful of local drinking establishments to come up with holiday cocktails using local ingredients. And then we tasted them.

Holiday gift lists -- this year we're asking people about what they'd like to give, what they'd like to get, a charity they'd like to support, and a favorite gift from their childhood:

+ Lecco Morris from the Chefs Consortium
+ The Confectionery's Heather LaVine
+ The one and only Sean Rowe
+ Illustrator Elizabeth Zunon

And pics from the AOA holiday cocktail party at New World Catering.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
