A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-12-27

Here are a few highlights from the past (short) holiday week on AOA:

+ We gave away a few Peppermint Pigs as part of a traditional Airing of Grievances.

+ Crisan announced its closing its cafe, and we talked with the bakery's owners about the decision.

+ Lauren talked with Troy woodworker Jim Lewis about simplifying life and work, learning new skills, and doing the things you're supposed to be doing.

+ We pulled together a big list of suggested charities to support.

+ Rebecca asked about restaurants with cozy spots for winter dining.

+ Deanna stopped into the Schuyler Bakery and recommended the Paska bread.

+ New York dropped to the #4 spot in the national state population rankings.

+ Sonic says it's planning eight locations in the Capital Region, the first in Latham.

+ And what was up in the Neighborhood this week: making something nice happen, rebirth, finding a babysitter, OKCupid, hiking into the clouds, the paste fortune, quality and expectations, lost foods, brunch at Zest, head counts, a vegan hot dog, an entire head, talking ice cream, and Krampus.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week! Happy holidays! We have some fun end-of-year stuff lined up for next week.

When you say long winter's nap does that mean no Mary & Gregg for a while?
I need a sugestion for a good eye dr.
I know someone who is experiencing double vision.
He had an MRI , no problem there.
He had a spinal tap, no problem there.

Also , who to go to for small electric appliances repair since Lake Electronics closed for Albany area?

@mg: We're on break this week. Here's an earlier Ask AOA question about eye doctors -- there were many suggestions.

As for small appliance repair post-Lake, that's a good question. I'm not sure there is another place.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
