A quick recap of the week

week review 2016-09-11

Here are a few highlights from the past (short) week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to a beer/food event at the City Beer Hall by asking: What's something local that you're looking forward to eating or drinking this fall?

+ Deanna tried the toast menu at Superior Merchandise Co. (Yep, toast.)

+ Fred asked about finding golf lessons for adults.

+ M asked about local events at which writers can read their work aloud. (We could still use some suggestions on this one.)

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: tracing two lives, flying from Albany to NYC, Basin and Saddleback, iris eradication, the Jell-O Museum, dodging a scam, wedding gifts, dogs on restaurant patios, noodles, pasta, dinner in Lenox, and poaching.

+ We checked out that Viking boat that was docked in Waterford.

+ We're giving away tickets for the EMPAC season (pick three events) + a $100 gift card to The Hill at Muza in Troy by asking: What's something new or different locally that you tried for the first time during this year and ended up liking or were happy you tried it? (The drawing is open until 5 pm Monday.)

+ We gawked at the new private student housing that opened across from UAlbany's uptown campus.

+ And crowd voting closed for the finalists of this year's AOA Startup Grant! We'll announce the three finalists on Monday.

Here's the whole week in one place.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
