A quick recap of the week

week review 2008-12-20

Here are some highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Pictures -- and video -- from the Santa Speedo Sprint.

+ People had mixed reactions to SNL's David Paterson skit.

+ Paul passed a along a link to what has gotta be the Capital Region's most expensive sandwich.

+ Jess told us about the comics-inspired art of David Geurin.

+ A quick read of David Paterson's proposed budget, which he released this week.

+ As part of that proposed budget, wine could be sold in supermarkets -- does that open the way for Trader Joe's?

+ And while the proposed budget doesn't include a hike in income taxes, it would increase a bunch of "other" taxes -- on items such as iTunes songs and soda.

+ We found out who has the best egg nog.

+ Amy says the Dollar Tree isn't your typical dollar store.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: pets, pet peeves, books stores, The Cheesecake Factory, date night and sweaters.

+ Jess gave us the scoop on the Frankencake at Cheesecake Machismo.

+ Shake Shake Mamas is closing -- but one of the co-founders wants to help you start your own business.

+ All those crows in Albany need to find a job.

+ This week in the local holiday gift guide: hand cream from Saratoga, gift certificates to the Albany Art Room, gift certificates for rock climbing, and necklaces from Elissa Halloran. (Here's the whole guide in one place.)

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who sent along ideas, links, pictures, corrections and comments this week.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
