A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-06-30

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Soapbox: Katherine argued that most people's perceptions of Schenectady (often bad) don't match with the reality (a lot of good).

+ Bon Iver is coming to Ommegang.

+ Ewan asked about finding a local Adirondack chair maker -- and it sounds like he got some good advice.

+ Here's an easy-to-scan roundup of summer theater festivals around the greater Capital Region.

+ Sean asked about adult soccer leagues or games.

+ Lissa asked about where to get an egg cream.

+ Greg started riding the bus -- and hasn't stopped. (A lot of good comments.)

+ Jesse shared some breweries worth visiting around the Capital Region.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Eve of Destruction, Little League, walking, a tasting menu, watermelon salad, Korean-Louisiana fusion, the most amazing patio, Ramona's, strawberries, beaver crime, the Round Lake Antiques Festival, newborn photos, dragonflies, tomato crack, anarchist goats, and a tiny message.

+ Jennifer asked about what's an appropriate bar mitzvah gift. (And got high quality answers.)

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: full tanning girl time, a mind hug, vintage Scrabble, and turquoise chickens.

+ We gave away tickets to the Saratoga Jazz Festival at SPAC by asking: What's your favorite band name?

+ Here's a list of farms around the Capital Region where you can pick your own blueberries.

+ Casey pulled together the annual list of where to see fireworks around the Fourth of July.

+ And apparently now is the time to see Karner Blue butterflies.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared a photo or idea this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
