A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-04-04

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Another update on a former Startup Grant finalist: The Cheese Traveler! The deadline to apply is 11:59 pm Friday, April 4!

+ Chuck asked about finding a good house painter. (We could probably use another suggestion or two on this one.)

+ We gave away tickets to the upcoming Sean Rowe show at the Troy Music Hall + a Confectionery gift certificate by asking: What's your favorite thing about Troy?

+ It the Jeter-Papi line that divides us.

+ Union is up against much bigger competition in the Frozen Four.

+ Lauren asked about finding a good cleaning service.

+ Deanna explained what makes the French onion soup at the Ginger Man better than just any old French onion soup.

+ Donald Trump was in Albany Tuesday, but the interesting stuff was from Rob Astorino.

+ Laura asked about finding a good contractor for installing title backsplash in a kitchen. (We could use another few suggestions on this one.)

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: butchering skills, jobs, Miley Cyrus, Gloria Steinem, a bachelorette party, maple syrup, a birthday tour, Moveable Feast, octopus, poutine and banh mi, cobb salad, Tour de FroYo, old appetizers, trivia, ospreys, knitting, and the time when bridges were bridges.

+ A bit about the mystery of the yellow and red brick neighborhood in Albany.

+ We got a peek at the Albany Public Library's efforts to digitize its local history collection.

+ Would you drink tree sap?

+ A court decision between the Washington Ave Armory and the city of Albany came down to definitions in dictionaries. Really.

+ Lauren checked out Brits R Us, a new shop in Colonie featuring products from the UK.

+ And we were reminded of the simple fun that is gawking at things from atop the Corning Tower.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
