A quick recap of the week

week review 2010-07-24

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Greg's barber poll continued at Mensroom in downtown Albany.

+ The owners of the Vehigloo were giving away the art car (and it sounds like they found it a new home).

+ Troy's historic Washington Place has been put back together -- by hand.

+ Carl told us about Capital Region historical figures who have appeared on money.

+ The director of Salt thanked the New York for... pork.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: pizza, frozen yogurt, the Pig Out, a tasteplosion, Schenectady, sushi, Schroon Lake, trivia, Jacob's Pillow, wild blueberries and iced coffee.

+ CAPow's "I Love New York" print made us smile.

+ People here are apparently optimistic about the housing market.

+ A peek at where state politicians eat while they're in Albany.

+ Elizabeth Gray went to UAlbany. Then she went to South America. And now she's working to build a school in a remote part of Ecuador -- with help from people in Albany.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a going away party in search of leprechauns, pole dancing lessons, a hot air balloon and a beehive.

+ It seems that New Yorkers are cranky tweeters.

+ New World chef Ric Orlando is going to be on the Food Network show Chopped.

+ Nicole checked out the Harvest Spirits distillery in Valatie.

+ We tasted a "Sloppy Track" shake (and a burger and fries) at the new Shake Shack in Saratoga.

+ And Jason sent along some fun photos from the Saratoga County Fair.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

A few things I think about this place

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
