A quick recap of the week

week review 2013-09-21

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to the sold-out Elvis Costello show at the Troy Music Hall by asking: What's something in the Capital Region that is enduringly cool?

+ Chrisck asked about donating hair for charity.

+ Nate asked about bartending classes.

+ Jeff recommended the mofongo de chicharron at Casa Dominicana.

+ Odd alleged crime of the week: milk bottle rustling.

+ Nicole and Paul showed us a fantastic arts and crafts-style house in Pine Hills that's modern on the inside.

+ Anonymous asked about contractors for fixing a wet basement. (We could still use a few suggestions on this one.)

+ What was up in the neighborhood this week: the ballad of Albany, the true jewel in our crown, apple picking, what's in the day pack, a half marathon, pediatricians, a complaint handled well, juice, a Delmar cafe, summer wild flowers, garden bounty, beer in Vermont, and the weight of it all.

+ Map quiz: Can you name this pattern of locations in upstate New York?

+ We got an early look at the Albany Institute's new exhibit, "The Mystery of the Albany Mummies."

+ Early season apple variety power rankings.

+ And the replay of the AOA Historic Bad Boys, Broads and Bootleggers Tour sold out in 45 minutes.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
