A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-01-11

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to the Wine & Dine for the Arts food and wine festival by asking: What is your 2014 resolution for the Capital Region?

+ The annual warm weather bang for your airfare buck comparison, for flights out of ALB.

+ We got a look at what the new owners of the Madison Theater in Albany have planned for the venue.

+ Kanye is playing the TU Center.

+ Jeff told us about an interesting -- and tasty -- Sichuan dish at Northeast Dumplings House that in which potatoes are wrapped in a pancake.

+ A quick scan of Joe Biden's appearance at the Capitol this week -- he enjoyed the powerpoint presentation, apparently.

+ The spring slate for the NYS Writers Institute visiting writers series is out.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: 14 Albany changes in 2014, things missed, urban cycling, the year 2753, a gorgeous view, Albany Rural, Greenbush, sinuous lines, a cover, a real day, baby stuff, sidewalks, more and less, trends, coffee, disappointing chicken, a cat, and The Egg -- sunny side up.

+ Time it would take to watch Andrew Cuomo's State of the State address this year: about an hour. Time it would take skim through our quick scan recap: a few minutes.

+ Don't miss this short online documentary about a local roller derby group.

+ Prompted by a question from Will, we asked people about which dry cleaner they prefer.

+ We gave away tickets to see Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from Whose Line is it Anyway? at Proctors by asking: What is your favorite joke? The answers were TERRIBLE. (Many of them in the best way.)

+ There's a brewery planned for North Albany.

+ And sometimes, in the deep part of winter, you just want to stay home and hibernate. So we offered a handful of hibernation TV suggestions, and people joined in with a bunch of their faves. (If you have suggestions, please share!)

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
