A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-01-29

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ The week started out cold -- crazy cold.

+ Crystal shared her top 5 Capital Region diner breakfasts.

+ Anonymous asked for help on a landlord issue.

+ Ned's getting together a "Beers and Books" night.

+ The people at WNYT are dynamite.

+ Katie pulled together info on places where you can give cross country skiing a try.

+ We went browsing through Etsy for locally-made Valentine's Day cards.

+ We took a field trip to the Casa Visco factory in Schenectady to see how they make tomato sauce.

+ The state's Executive Mansion -- at times gloomy pile, other happy family home for the Cuomos -- turned 134 years old.

+ You know that frozen slush that forms that clings to a bottom of a car behind the wheels -- what is that stuff called? People had a lot of good suggestions.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: expectations, small-towning it, the altered tip, trivia etiquette, cross country skiing, soup swapping, Baba Louie's, another barbecue place, chicken parm, Four Lickles, frazil, and snowing cats.

+ Kelly asked about where she could get a remote car started installed.

+ Sebastien and Bennett's Urban Decay Tour of the Capital Region continued with a visit to the Victory Mill.

+ Bill Clinton will be speaking at UAlbany.

+ They are Muddy Cups no longer.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: passes for girls with glasses, a rather pricy ballpoint pen, and a cardboard Derek Jeter (presumably not a comment on his defensive abilities at shortstop).

+ We learned a bit about volunteer firefighters in the Capital Region.

+ Catherine asked about good spots for karaoke.

+ We flipped through some fun photos by Sebastien and The Exile from the Grafton Lakes Winterfest.

+ Annie asked about a good wedding spot in downtown Albany.

+ We answered a handful of questions that weren't actually asked.

+ Eagles or no eagles, Peebles Island is a beautiful spot in the winter.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
