A quick recap of the week

week review 2013-07-13

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Nicole was back with another Open House, this time in Albany's Mansion Neighborhood.

+ We enjoyed reading an article in Harper's about Albany 50 years ago -- that is, an article in Harper's about Albany from 1857.

+ Daniel extolled the iced coffee at the Confectionery.

+ We gave away tickets to Ommegang's Hop Chef Albany by asking: When it's hot and muggy, what do you want to eat?

+ Laura asked about finding a good doctor for treating Lyme disease.

+ County fair season is almost here -- here's a round up this year's schedule.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: garbage cans, fireworks, meeting people, Dippikill, Eleanor Roosevelt, General Grant, Pyramid Lake, New York Cuisine, cheesesteaks, bar snacks, out-of-the-box breakfast, coffee Oreo ice cream, coffee ice cubes, biking uphill, and slime mold.

+ We talked with NewsChannel 13 meteorologist about what's up the rainy weather this summer.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a mini skirt tattooed on the brain, the phosphorescence of a nuclear Four Loko, a sh*t and spin, a mini donkey.

+ We pulled together -- and mapped -- some postcards from Troy's past.

+ We got a look inside the very old Trojan Hotel building in Troy -- it has new owners and they have a lot of plans for it.

+ And these videos both made us smile this week, for different reasons.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

A few things I think about this place

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
