A quick recap of the week

week review 2013-10-12

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We gave away to upcoming Northshire Bookstore Anne Rice event in Saratoga by asking: If you were writing a gothic/fantasy/horror novel, what location in the Capital Region would you use in the book as a setting?

+ Local farmers' market-famous bee keeper Lloyd Spear is retiring.

+ A bunch of photos from the replayed/remixed AOA Historic Bad Boys, Broads and Bootleggers Tour.

+ Mick told us about this weekend's Council of Five Nations gaming con -- and shared some memories of slaying dragons in Schenectady.

+ Christine asked about Halloween parties and costume contests (a few more suggestions could help on this one).

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: healthy skepticism, getting bitten in the ass, low-cost health care, ghost signs, being eaten alive, Tour de Donut, indigenous Center Square hardwood, Capital City Gastropub, stuck by needles, a birthday dinner, a "drity" wedding, a day in the life, vintage roosters, and the kaleidoscope of autumn color.

+ Stephanie shared what it was like to run the Ragnar Adirondack relay -- 196.2 miles from Saratoga to Lake Placid... in about a day.

+ Anonymous asked about finding a web developer for an online business.

+ Among the items found on Craigslist this week: a cliche and pretty unfulfilling flipping of the middle finger.

+ Ahead of this weekend's Mini Maker Faire we talked with a 10 year old who made a flying pizza box.

+ After a bizarre and scary incident in Albany, we talked with the creator of a short documentary that casts the accused in a wider context.

And Round 2 of The Tournament of Pizza:

+ TOP2013: Round 2: Saratoga

+ TOP2013: Round 2: Schenectady

+ TOP2013: Round 2: Troy

+ TOP2013: Round 2: Albany

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
