A quick recap of the week

week review 2010-08-07

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We talked with chef Ric Orlando about his win on Chopped.

+ A local designer's work was featured on Woot.

+ Brian asked about pick-your-own vegetables -- which prompted EAC to mention a deal on local flowers.

+ We checked out the set of Sister Spirit, the movie currently shooting in Albany. And we talked with one of the producers.

+ Shannon asked whether Jiminy Peak's Aerial Adventure ropes course was any fun.

+ Capital Region colleges ended up in a handful of the Princeton Review's rankings.

+ Patrick and Tim told us about the Contemporary Artists Center in Troy.

+ The ceiling of Bob Monaghan's living room is probably more interesting than yours.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood: a really old road, bow-chicka-wow-wow, the Aquaducks, Cooperstown, St. Joseph's, Garden Bistro 24, Delaware Ave, pulled pork, a sushi buffet, doughboys, adorable vegetables, Adam Duritz, Vermont, and birthday cake.

+ Erinn asked about fun activities she could do with co-workers.

+ They took Anthony Bourdain from us -- and people told us to pull the plug.

+ Carl asked about driving schools.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a Navy wife who won't let a game of beer bong go unplayed, a crush on the cheese guy, a reminder to keep our feet covered at Exit 24 and a pot belly pig.

+ We talked with Claudia Braymer, a Clifton Park woman who will being playing for the US national team in the rugby World Cup.

+ Apparently there was a peacock on the lam in Schenectady.

+ Charley asked about martial arts classes for kids.

+ A PostSecret exhibit is coming to UAlbany.

+ And we skimmed through the reviews of The Other Guys, the Will Ferrell movie that shot in downtown Albany.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
