A quick recap of the week

week review 2010-09-04

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We talked with Scott Kellogg, one of the founders of a center for teaching people how to live a more sustainable life.

+ The NY Post gave a harsh thumbs down to a local kid film critic.

+ There close finishes -- and there was this race.

+ The new Chipotle at Stuyvesant Plaza opened.

+ The Albany metro area was named one of the "20 Brainiest Cities in America." (Also, Nipper got some nerdy glasses.)

+ Patrick and Jason sent along photos from the great Restoration Festival at St. Joseph's.

+ Carl told us about the long history of Albany bashing.

+ Rob ended up at a "ridiculously cheesy" -- but fun! -- wrestling event in Ballston Spa.

+ Bread and Jam in Cohoes closed.

+ Skye asked about good places to go out to eat on Sunday.

+ It was hot this week. Can you guess which month is typically the hottest in the Capital Region?

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Schoharie County, the Great Escape, Mountain Brew, cupcakes, breakfast, calamari, the Judge's Inn, burgeoning gentians, contractors, cookies, text books and fish.

+ If things had worked out, we might have been in the Albany Time Zone.

+ The City of Albany's water was rated the best tasting in the state. (Where does Albany's water come from? Hint: not Albany.)

+ Hannah's Hope Fund won that $250k grant.

+ Local startup Ecovative Design was called a "technology pioneer" for 2011.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a girl who wants to be a missed connection, Jogging Barbie, quantum bubblonautics, and a microfilm reader.

+ We asked people how they "live rich" in the Capital Region. There were a lot of good answers.

+ ¡And Kaitlin was featured in Glamour España!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
