A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-02-12

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We talked with photographer Mark McCarty: "Everyone in the world goes through something that scars them whether it's visible or not, and I think photography is a good medium for exploring that."

+ Liz saw ice harvested.

+ Chuck asked about the best places to buy fresh fruit during the winter.

+ This is turning out to be a rebound winter for snowmen.

+ A new Phantogram video debuted on MTV and caused a ripple.

+ Jennifer asked about local restaurants that have gluten-free options. There were a bunch of good suggestions, so we pulled them together in a listing.

+ Angelina, how could you?

+ We highlighted a bunch of interesting concerts that are coming up.

+ Brian Stratton is leaving Schenectady's mayor's office.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the mob, a snow job, cost of living, Olana, deals in Saratoga, Chinese New Year, oxtail, first dates, the Utica Grind, home history, chiropractors, exploding cattails, and a shoveling machine.

+ There's a different side of Saratoga.

+ A few tips on dealing with problems around the house caused by winter.

+ Bennett checked out the "Weeds and Wildness" exhibit at the Nott.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: sexy snow shoveling, psychic telephone readers, and a whole lot of Pez.

+ It's the miniature version of Albany.

+ The strange, snowy landscape.

+ An odd parking job prompted the comment of the month, from Bob.

+ This is a tough time of year for Albany's benchwarmers.

+ And Akum thought outside the (heart-shaped) box of chocolates.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
